Reviews
This authentic Vietnamese kitchen in the Saigon Plaza on Rt. 38, Pennsauken, was one of the first southeast Asian restaurants in the area, and carries its excellent reputation to the present day. The somewhat aging dining room is filled mostly with Asian customers who know where the delicious cuisine is, and where to find the best prices which are several bucks less across the board than other VN newer comers around the Heavy Chill (Cherry Hill) region. They also do Thai and Chinese dishes to keep everyone happy. As I was in the mood for a load of hot spicy fat noodles, their Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with chicken and Wonton Soup made me a contented man. Plenty of shrimp in goldfish wonton and greens in the steaming bowl. Large chunks of boiled beef from the simmer pot also swimming in the hot tub for gnarly handiwork The Pad was a full plate with green and red pepper, onion, tomato, sprouts and tender grilled chicken. I added more chili crisp sauce to spread the heat to my liking. Home run once I started to sweat. Saigon Plaza is in need of a gentle makeover after its decades of success, but the work coming from Thai Son's kitchen is as good as it ever was.
Great pho , best in South Jersey I've had so far. They have great sizzling beef with peppers as well. Their prices have increased about 30% compared to previously though, but I guess that's everywhere. Certain items aren't as good : like bun bo hue, bun rieu
After the snowstorm , perfect day for stone bowl pho future references though, I'll stick to the regular bowl of pho, that was too much work in having to put everything together yourself
Came here with a big party on New Year's day. We called ahead for a party of 20. We did viet family style and the one thing that really stood out to me was the canh chua. Usually every viet place makes it TOO sweet, but here it was perfect! The bo luc lac was really good as well. The food came out good!
A colleague recommended this restaurant to me and since then have come here many times. Service is quick and the younger generation wait staff are efficient. The Vietnamese spring roll (Goi Cuon) with shrimp and grilled pork is solid. The beef stew with tendons #52 is a favorite.
